Walsh Family
Sinead Walsh shares her experiences at RMH Providence and the Ronald McDonald Family Room at Hasbro Children's Hospital.
“On July 15th 2009 my husband and I gave birth to our second child, a beautiful baby boy name Landon. At the time of Landon's birth we discovered that he had Respitory Distress Syndrome, a serfactin deficiency, and soon developed a pneumothorax.
Because of this trauma Landon was in the NICU for ten days. My husband and I could not go home without him and we spent about 14 hours a day in the NICU with Landon.
Thank God for the Ronald McDonald House. They took us in and gave us a beautiful room, a warm cup of coffee when the nights were almost impossible to get through and most importantly they were right next door to Landon. We did not have to worry about going home to get more clothes, there are washer and dryers in the house, we did not have to worry about not having a toothbrush or toothpaste because of all the amazing people who have made donations.
This home was a blessing and the volunteers were angels. Our four year old, Lliam, loved coming to visit us and play in the enormous play room. We will always remember playing on the beautiful playground we ran around in with Lliam. These special moments got us through the long hard days.
Unfortunately this would not be the last time we experienced the Ronald McDonald House, our now eight month old has been hospitalized two more times. Fortunately this time we could stay in the room with him 24 hrs a day, but we were not counting on staying for such long periods of time. Again we were so thankful for Ronald McDonald Room at Hasbro.
This gorgeous room allowed us to get a book or magazine to read, a place to get a snack, wash our clothes, check our emails, and get some toiletries to take a much needed shower. I will always have a special place in our hearts for the Ronald McDonald House. Thank you to all the volunteers and all the people who donate, I know that you have changed our hearts forever.”
